Yoav Cohen

mayoav-248Yoav is The Jewish Agency’s Senior Shaliach at the Rosenthal JCC, serving the Jewish community of Westchester, New York. He was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and grew up there until the age of 12. Since then, he has lived in central Israel.

Between 2003 and 2007 Yoav served in the IDF as a platoon commander in an active operational unit and today serves in reserve duty as a deputy company commander.

Following his service, Yoav worked in Israel’s high tech sector at software giant SAP and then in the academic world at IDC Herzliya. He also co-managed friendasoldier.com- a innovative dialogue website connecting between former IDF soldiers and the rest of the world.

Yoav holds a B.A in Government, Diplomacy and Strategy from the IDC, Herzliya and is a graduate of the Argov Program in Leadership and Diplomacy.

The Westchester Community Shlichut  mission is a county wide program coordinated by the Westchester Jewish Council and Rosenthal JCC with support from UJA-Federation of New York, Hilllels of Westchester and the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI), along with the generosity of Carol and Michael Lowenstein, the Adnim Foundation and the Nedivot Venture Philanthropy Fund of UJA-Federation.
